My boyfriend and I spent a week at the wonderful Casa della Nonna. Unfortunately we were a bit unlucky with the weather, but the warm hospitality from Antonella + co and the amazing apartment, definitely made up for it! Antonella helped us book a parking space in advance, which is advisable, since parking generally in the Amalfi coast is difficult to find and expensive. Roberto met us to guide us to the parking space and led us up the 336 stairs to Casa della Nonna. I must agree that the stair climbing demands a bit of exercise, but once at the top, the view makes you understand why you have to put in a little bit of effort, because it was absolutely beautiful. You are right in the middle of the lemon groves and you have a good view of the center of Maiori and the sea. Also its good to exercise a bit after eating all the amazing food. Antonella was waiting to greet us with fresh lemonade and big smiles, could you wish for more:) We had ordered some groceries beforehand, so we were sure to have some basic items ready which was really nice and there were also some welcoming items such as wine, limoncello, garden vegetables produced by Antonellas father Delio and basic breakfast products. The house consists of three apartments and we had the bottom floor. It was nicely decorated and there were a big connecting terrace with a pizza oven and a bbq, table, chairs and lounge furniture. there are access to the terrace from the kitchen, the living room and the bedroom so you have an amazing view from every room in the apartment and I can imagine during summer, it must be nice to open up all the doors and get fresh air inside. all the doors had mosquito blinds to roll down. Even though the house was full while staying there, you still had a lot of privacy and you slept like a baby at night. We live in the city normally, so the quietness and tranquility was much appreciated! We explored during the day and had lunch along the coast and we cooked all the dinners at the apartment, since we love cooking ourselves and you have access to so many amazing local products. We also ordered some more vegetables from Delios garden and he and Antonella came with big bowls of beans, salad and cabbage which tasted amazing. The wifi is good and if you wish to get tips to sightseeing Antonella will gladly help you with lots of recommendations :-) Maori was perfect for us, a very local feel, with a couple of supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, fish stores, restaurants and bars. and away from the more loud, crowded, touristic areas such as Positano and Amalfi. If you wish to explore the other cities and don’t have a car, there are busses and boats running all the time. We will highly recommend staying at this wonderful place and hope to come back soon.
